De races op de in het voormalig Oost Duitsland gelegen Sachsenring waren geen succes voor de Nederlandse deelnemers aan het 125cc wereldkampioenschap, beide rijders moesten vroegtijdig opgeven met een technisch mankement.

Dat ging bij de start wel goed, ik lag even negende maar het was daarna een lastige race en het was jammer dat we de verkeerde gok hadden gemaakt want de regenbanden werden veel te warm en al snel kwamen een hoop rijders mij voorbij. Ik had op zich wel een redelijke start maar in de eerste bocht was het even dringen geblazen. Nadat ik een beetje in mijn ritme kwam en de baan wat droger was geworden kon ik pushen en kwam ik steeds verder naar voren totdat in de 16e ronde mijn motor er mee ophield en ik door het vastgelopen blok onderuit ging. Erg jammer want ik zat in het groepje wat voor de zevende/achtste plaats vocht en er had dus veel meer in kunnen zitten. Nu hebben we een maand ÔvakantieÕ voordat we in Brno weer aan de bak mogen.Ó</blockquote>
