In de eerste geklokte sessie was het de Brit Neil Hodgson die voorlopig de snelste is, achter hem staan de nummers twee en een uit het kampioenschap Chili staat als thuisrijder ondanks zijn blessure uit de trainingen van Sugo vijfde. Eric Bostrom staat nog net bij de eerste tien, voor zijn debuut op Monza is dit zeker een goede prestatie.
Haga kwalificeerde zich voorlopig zelfs nog achter Eric Bostrom, Haga staat met zijn italiaanse krachtbron enigsinds teleurstellend elfde. Peter Goddard wist zich na de afwezigheid van drie races binnen de norm te kwalificeren hij eindigde vandaag als vierentwintigste.
